  • Oratron's electrode

Searching for a good quality image of the Oratron's electrode (Oratron is for mineral, treasures and another big metal items). Also i have the schematic (tube nostalgia!). Maybe someone redesign this for us. The text i have is in Spanish.

    Hi,
this is just a kind of resistivity electrodes with water solution of Copper sulphide for conductive contact with soil and hard surface (rocks). You may be can change it with simple rods to simplify your design.
    Best,

      Oratron's electrode

OK, but the reccomendation is this type of contact via chemical solution for to prevent spurious signals or currents... and this was in the 60's.

        Oratron's electrode

Esteban, what you have is a "Self-Potential" unit discription.
These types of units are used to record the SP Voltage between the two electrodes. The voltages that a Sulfide deposit can generate are from a few to a few tens of millivolts and under the right circumstances can reach up to a volt when right over the sulfide zone.
The KEY here is that you have to have a source for Potential/Voltage or the system WILL NOT WORK!!! and if you do think it is giving you some readings then you need to check and see if the Freq is 60hz(US) 50hz(EU).
A much better way of doing your ground survey is to use the Earth Resistivity method as it can see into the Ground 100's of Meters.
And the Electronic equiptment is Cheap to make and Simple to use. The software to Process the DATA from the survey has Always Been MUCHO $$$$$ and not avaiable to us hobbiests. That has Changed and I hope Carl will have all the Nessicary Permissions and Links up in the next week or so.
In the mean time LOOK Real hard at the Earth Resistivity Meter by Robert Beck Project on this website as it has rudimentary software with it.
And look at the EPE website for the other ones mentioned also. Especially the DATA LOGGER that is mentioned in these threads.

          Self potential in Galvano-telluric radio

          Thanks, Bill

In the same way, here a radio wich works with two electrodes of different metal, steel for negative and bronze for positive. The pair generates around 0.75 V. Think this arrangement explain too why metal buried for long time works as battery. Parts of text are in Spanish.

            Shrinking Your Picture Files

Esteban, here is a link to a FREE Grafics Viewer and Prosser to cut and reduce the size of the files for Easyer Viewing and faster uploading.
            http://www.irfanview.com/

use Crop Pics option in the EDIT drop down and then go to the IMAGE dropdown menu and select the Resize/Resample option and select the 640/480 size and then File Save to a Giff or Jpeg file. A real cool editer bar in the lowwer screen of IfanView is the Old Image Size and the New Image Size side by side as you edit the pict.
