  • Bob Fitzgerald's

I am requesting any information on Fitzgerald's products good or bad for comparison. I want to do some Deep treasure cache hunting on heavily trashy areas. I currently have a whites XLT,MXT and TM808 MD but looking into GPR's.

    Ground Penetrating Locators
    Long Range Locators
    Ground Penetrating Radars.

    Any information is appreciated.
    Thanks.

I see a bunch of dowsing garbage so I would avoid this guy like the plague. Can someone take a look at the 'Treasure Navigator' and tell me if I see this right? Is that a $20,000 dowsing device???

      Re: Bob Fitzgerald's

Actually this one is the Mother Load Locator.
      http://www.treasurenow.com/html/MLL.html

and it looks just like the GPL 100 sold by Kellyco. http://www.kellycodetectors.com/gpl/ground.htm

and the Accumeter Super Pro VII from accuratelocators.

Are all of this devices LRLs and or what is the difference between them. Thanks!

Yup, look for the term "receiver rods", which is secret code for "dowsing rods". For $20,000, you get a nice Pelican case, and a GPS so you won't get lost while dowsing.

          Re: Bob Fitzgerald's

From what I'm told by people who've bought the Accumeter & the MLL, they are "poor man" resistivity meters, very inferior to the kind of instruments used by real geophysicists & archaeologists. The Kellyco "GPLs" appear to be the same sort of design.

A resistivity meter is used to determine the resistance of the soil. By methodically probing an area, an ground resistance map can be produced, which might show high or low areas corresponding to buried anomalies. They are usually used in archaeology, and for mapping ore bodies.

There are several ways to measure ground resistance, and 4-probe force/sense meters are currently considered the best. Despite being sold with 4 probes, these "poor man" res. meters actually use an inferior 2-probe method. They also have no data logging capabilities, something you will sorely wish for.

The design of these things are much simpler than their price tags suggest. The Survey Meter project is basically the exact same circuit, and can be built for less than $50. A true 4-probe meter, complete with data logging and Windows software, was recently featured in Everyday Electronics magazine, and can be built for maybe $200.

            Hi Carl.
Do you have any suggestion on other Resistivity meters better than those mention before?
            Accumeter,GPL VI,MLL.

            Thanks!

              Re: Bob Fitzgerald's

Do a web search on "earth resistivity", and see what you get. I know that companies like Geonics, Geometrics, Gisco, Terraplus, etc have this kind of equipment, but I suspect the prices are stratospheric.

There are also "ground resistance" meters that are used by utility contractors to test for ground conditions when installing lightning protection, but I have no idea whether they would be suitable for conductivity mapping.

What are you looking for? ERM's generally are not well-suited for small targets.

                Re: Bob Fitzgerald's

I am looking for a device that does pretty much all of the things these other devices accumeter, GPL VI and MLL claim to do and is easy to use. I want to use this device for treasure "cache" hunting mainly.

                Thanks.
