  • Working with Delrin

My buddy was working on cutting the tail section of the (Delrin) pipe to allow the fins to slide in and had some difficulty with the Delrin material.

Basically, the intention was to make 4 cuts along the body of the pipe. With each cut the Delrin wanted to collpase upon itself ... almost spring like.

As a result, the first section was "trashed". They were able to resolve the problem and complete the "back-up" tail section.

I'll give you the details and photos later after I see it myself.

I assume that they placed something in the pipe to keep it from collapsing upon itself so that they could make the appropriate cuts (with a router).

Once the fins are in place, the desire for the fins to collapse actually works to lock the fins in place.

I do not know if this is a problem with PVC pipe. I'm told it is not.
