    Quick question regarding the TX and RX connections to the coils. I'm getting confused on which pins I connect the TX and RX Start and End wires too.

    Referring to the picture I attached, could someone let me know the correct placement for the TX and RX start and end wires to the TX and RX pins that I labeled in the picture.

    Well, I use thin selfadhesive alufoil in one direction, not turned around the coil, for all my homemade coils so far. I add also a blancket wire over the foil, before I wound all with thin elastic plastic tape. The results are very well in my opinion. Also Don Bowers suggested it similar in the TGSL DD coil building document.
    But hey, so I accept your opinion, to use graphite shielding, but I 'm also a stupid idiot as well.

    As BKY1337 said you have to isolate the coils from each other with some isolation tape, just some pieces between the two coils so the wires do not touch each other! It is very important.
    Connect the multimeter paralell to the Rx coil in AC mode not DC as you made and check it again so you have ~4mV, move the coils for the optimum result and you will have good sensibility.

    I have used J106 and it needed to be changed, the datasheet that I have says that J105 J106 J107 all have the same pinouts maybe your transistor is different.

    Ne555 the overlap of your coils is to narrow, very small! Residual Rx voltage should be ~4mV.
