OMG those coplanar coils are easy to build!!! I just got my 13 inch working on the bench and its hitting my ring about 12 inches down at 50% sens. Thats pretty good on the Explorer as they don't air test for crap.
But the real news is how easy these coils are to build. I followed Dave's instructions on the ratio e.g. 4 to 1 transmit coil to bucking coil...put it on the scope and was within 1/4 turn of perfect balance, just had to unwind the bucking coil 1/4 turn. Double D coils on the other hand are a pain to balance and keep in balance. I'm not sure I'll ever build another now. lol
