We have an old russian tube oscilloscope there(weighing some25kg), bench power supply and that it was. One 8 bit computer used mainly for CCTV, pocket radio(RTTY) and training the Morse code. That is where i see for the first time pcb design software in action. Even the permanent marker at that time was a luxury from the "rotten capitalism". Only few have it, instead i use black stove lack and Fecl or Hcl for etching with mixed results. True many of those got to the bin but almost equal quantity produce results.I still have somewhere my automatic keyer done that way. Sorry for the offtopic, just nostalgia i gues.
    My kind of story too.
I used window glass as "manual scanner" too!

Especially knowing that even the board design was sometimes done by hand on the glass of my window. At that moment was still very expensive to order boards even in big series, nothing to compare with this century. Not to mention also that most of the projects from the hobby magazines have mistakes in the schematics intentionally or not, so that was a good way to improve our knowledge. We have a sentence back home stating -for so much - so much. Cant blame the author. I just bought simple laser printer to do the board my self, but than the season start and i cant manage my rest, what about the three RC planes and 4 MD projects all waiting for me. When there are stand-by duty i'll do my best.
I'm not talented (or crazy) like some people to draw with Sharpie marker a board of some 8 or 9 chips and over hundred compononents. NO WAY!!! That is no easy feat for sure!!!
I leave that for others to enjoy the artistic experience, and then to put in trash heap.
I suppose for some people it can be quite easy after many years of experience in doing it this way before modern era of China PCB, or laser printer from Walmart.
Ivica is special case though, I have come across many threads where he has whipped up a big pcb by hand drawn method. No sweat!

No, no paranoia, I did not notice how the time passed and thought, maybe the circuit is already several years old ....
Unfortunately, I can not insert smileys

Sorry. "Long time ago" means "just after it was posted by the author, within a day or two".
Fact is... it was really long time ago now!

I finished it at the end of April and now is half of October.
Indeed long time ago... in my kind of understanding the time.

Because i do something new and different every week.
So this topic is ancient history in my terms.
    ...

    P.S.
    What was that, paranoia?
    Andi the Shamus?

I could never "hand draw" such a pcb. NO.NO.NO thanks. I like the hair on my head , thankyou very much.

Ok, yes; i made it long time ago.
But it didn't worked at all. So i tossed it on a pile with similar destiny attempts.
But i must emphasize that this mean nothing and tells nothing about the project.
Because most probably i made some mistake and failed subjectively.
Firs of all; i used mostly old and used components. There is great possibility that some of those was faulty.
Second; i did draw my pcb manually, using marker. It is ugly and messy. Possible source of problems too.
Third; it was a period when i was pretty much occupied with other much more important things, so i was totally out of focus.
95% chances that i failed because of the named reasons and 5% chances that project is erroneous from a start.

That's understandable. Rather than spend countless hours trying to find errors, you simply tossed it. I would never expect such a build to work from the get go. A hand drawn pcb for this circuit? You must be nuts!!!!!

In the end, nothing is proved, nor disproved.
So the verdict is still out.

Yes, all these circuits are the same, give or take some subtle differences.
If everyone adopted the "wait and see approach", well, it never gets built. And so it leads me back to original criticism which is the Author simply dropped the schematic here on forum and left it at that.

after the first video of working circuit is online the people will begin to rebuild, the others before are just the stupid which have to debug the new design
i build so much circuits from here but sure the half are not working from start, too much rubbish for the scrap box

a good example are the circuits from the itmd book, sure not bad designs, but untested and published to fast with bugs
invested time, invested money, and at the end all for nothing

I see the hobby of "Brass rubbing" is garnering much interest and enthusiasm. Diy electronics seems to be on the wane.
