I unwound the coil former and pile wound a 22 cm diameter coil with 30 turns of the same speaker wire. Air tests showed it to be much better, detecting a gold ring at 20cms, a stainless steel watch with stainless strap at about 30cms and a pair of pliers at about 40cms. These tests were done in the 3rd position which seems to be the most sensitive. In the 1st position the ring is clearly detected at about 15cm. I will knock up some sort of support for it and check it on the ground.
    Cheers
    Mike

I built this from a kit I got from Teemo just over a year ago. I made a 25 turn Spidercoil O/D 22cm and 6cm I/D. I used 1mm speaker wire with a total O/D of 3cm. resistance was about 1 Ohm no idea about the inductance but it worked. Detection depth was very poor, about 5cms for a small gold ring and about 7cms for a 1 Euro coin. All this in free air. Yesterday I unwound the spidercoil and recovered the wire about 14 mtrs. Does anyone else agree with this poor performance? See attached plastic former that I used. Click image for larger version

Is it possible to share me your hex file, PCB and part list?

I did point to point wiring on a perf board, not PCB.
The hex file is on Teemo's web site and in post #10.
See post #26 for PIC data sheet.
    Source code in post #32.
    Firmware v1.26 in post #64

I see I use v1.80 code and this doesn't seem to be posted.

i haven’t oscilloscope for misure or test.
my coils work very well on Russian PI, Surf pi, clone pi avr, but on digiwood kit i have a very poor performance

The microcircuit can be programmed through an adapter, it is not necessary that the pin pins on the board, only take up space. I don?t know how to insert the archive in the RAR message, here is the link of the Russian-language site where I posted this archive.

This PCB layout is MISSING the PIC's ICSP header!
This leaves no way to connect a PICKit programmer to Flash the code.

I do use this circuit with a ferrite rod as a Pin Pointer. Works very well.

It does how ever goes back into Calibration during which time it give an audio output. Simply hold it still and Cal finishes and it is ready.
This can happen when MOVED rapidly (guessing a wire or slight shift of the coil/rod happens) which causes a Falsing. And can happen if Cal'ed in air then moved to only slightly minerialized soil.

All this is due to this circuits extreme sensitivity to the slightest 'phase' shift of the coil/cap resonance.

Good evening! I assembled a ferrite head-470mkGn, length 100mm, made a chic case and what to say, I hastened to leave feedback, yes, I saw gold, yes, good range, but when I picked it up and waved it in the air, that's all the problems, constant workings. On the author’s board from the kit that he sells, you can see the third conclusion “-”, tried to shield the sensor, there is a constant, uninterrupted sound. Maybe he threw off such firmware ..., after all, for him it’s a commerce, but for himself he came to the conclusion that he is not suitable as an IDU with such work. Unfortunately, another disappointment uring ...Click image for larger version

Has anybody tried this detector under the sea?
I am wonder if is it is stable to work in that environment...
