    Photos of CHANCE - V1 Component Side and Trace side

    Attached here are the promised photos of my fully operational CHANCE V1. The toroidal inductor is a modification to improve current to the detector. The extra resistor in series with the 390 ohm resistor is there to optimize damping of a fast 3DSS cool. Sorry for the late delivery of these pictures.

    Boris,
    I would examine each component value and its proper orientation for diodes, transistors, electrolytic caps, ICs, and the switches. I would clean up any solder joints that are not smooth and shiny. I don't know if it would help if I posted closeup pictures of my working board component side and trace side for a little 'stare and compare' with yours. I'll try to get that done tomorrow.

    So....finally removed C17 and C11, but no effect I'm afraid, still the same as the previous video in post #16. (I did wonder if they were physically large due to the 63 KV rating?)

    I have a 'virtual' scope now so is there anything that I can test that would throw light on the situation?

    Another question I have is that I built this board in a house that has an old and slightly questionable electrical system (for example appliances give you a shock if you don't wear rubber soled shoes). Could this have damaged components during the build?

    There is a decimal point at the upper left of the 22J designator and I am not sure of its meaning. Could it be that it means .22uf? If not, why is it there? I would be tempted to remove both 22pf caps and see the result.

    Values of capacitors C11 and C17 = '22J6KV54 marked on the caps which I believe is 22pf (very similar to) http://www.ebid.net/us/for-sale/1-pc...-136169833.htm

    Hi My question was really just a preliminary question

    the point of the question was to see if you had hard wired the switches or used a plug,

    where I was heading, was to see if you could easily unplug the switches to check that one
    of them was not putting a permanent earth on the uC, but as you have cut the wires
    that theory has been eliminated .

    Ok Boris, after looking at the pictures you first provided it looks like the C11 & C17 capacitors appear a bit physically large to be 22picofarad, can you please confirm their value? They are on either side of the quartz crystal.
