In the book by Schuler also schematics are shown, but there are no circuit descriptions and building instructions certainly not.
It is more a description of the different procedures.

I've just ordered a copy of 'Metallortung mit Detektoren' by Wolfgang Schuler from UK ebay for £5.19 with free delivery. There's still one copy left if anyone else is interested.
Can't have a hole in my collection.

I have both books, they are too superficial to me.

But through Gatowski I came to the hobby - my very first metal detector was built according to a manual from his book, almost 20 years ago.

After that I did not build a metal detector until 2016 ...

The only book in German that I have seen is - 'Metallortung mit Detektoren' by Wolfgang Schuler. This was published in 1987 and has a chapter on pulse induction types. If you can't get a copy, I can send you mine. I can't read German!

I don't have that one, but I do have "Ortungstechnik fur Profis" by Wolfgang Schuler, and "Schatzsuche mit Metalldetektoren" by A. Gatowski. The latter is an elektor publication.

Yes, I do not disagree with that. The 1960's was the time that transistors were becoming readily available and Claus Colani made what is probably the very first transistorised, and hence hand portable piece of equipment. I have a picture of the Colani design 'Peddy' detector being used by me on an archaeological site in 1966/7. However, my advanced menu has disappeared and I will post the picture when I find out how to recover the setting.

The question however, was in regard to the principle on which pulse induction detectors operated. The definition being - a fundamental truth or proposition that serves as the foundation for a system of belief or behaviour or for a chain of reasoning.

I had the privilege of working with Claus Colani in Oxford for two or three months before he returned to Germany. I then went on to design an even more portable version using integrated circuits which was completed in 1968. This was reported by me in an Italian archaeological journal, Prozpezioni Archeologiche (196, titled 'Further Developments of the Pulsed Induction Metal Detector'. The very first paragraph states - 'Following the work initiated by C. Colani in 1966, the Research Laboratory for Archaeology, Oxford, has continued the developmentof the Pulsed Induction Metal Detector'.
