I would love to own one of those "crappy detectors" you mention. The t2 is supposed to be in the same playing field with minelab's e-track and white's v3i -detectors whose performance have lead most people to believe vlf tech has peaked.

I 'm not saying you shouldn't tinker with your equipment. On the contrary, I think more people should get out a screw driver, buy a scope and see what makes their detectors tick.

However, what I'm in deed saying is that these new gen products are using microprocessors to handle the important functions. It's not like the old days where tasks are processed in discreet analog circuits.
These newer detectors are trickier to modify.

In my opinion it would by perfect to make it like Minelab Eureka.
Yes - it is very good detector but not as deep as my crappy detectors, so why not to try make a very good one go deep as well? Going with crystal down to 3 MHz would give me lower tones, going up it will give higher pitch ( could be not plesent).
    Regards,
Mario is correct. You'll most likely screw up the internal timing of the detector, and it will cease to work properly, if at all.

    I wouldn't replace the crystal.

It will likely make the detector become unpredictable with possible timing issues. There's a strong chance the coil may not work. VLF coils are specifically tuned to certain detector frequencies.

Why would you want to change the crystal anyway, this detector is a strong performer?

If you want to get better performance, I would advice you to get a bigger coil (or smaller coil for better target separation) instead.

    Nice pictures Warm
So you said that if i replace the crystal i can go down or up to 6.5 Khz and 17.3 Khz?
What about the coil? Is posible to build a homemade versión? What are the conections?

    Hi Davidb

I own T2, but i really can´t respnd to your anwer, cause i haven´t open the control box of T2.
I can only say it´s a very good detector. Indeed im on the beach now and i have used it on one beach that has too much iron and black sand. Detectors like Fisher CZ-20, Ace 250, Xterra 70, does not work good on this beach, cause iron screen smal items and detectors starts to alarm, beforo you can reach the targets. T2 has proved to work very good on this beach and the only consideration you must have, is to rise the coil a few centimeters from the ground, eliminate the iron detection.
I hope this helps anyone interested on T2.
    Regards

    started a topic Teknetics T-2

    Teknetics T-2

    Hi.
Last week i got Teknetics T-2 metal detector and i had tried it twice at a local park, and you know what, the machine is deep and has very good discrimination.
By now i ll have to wait until next weekend to try it again, but my on the fild test shows that is a very good metal detector.
So if anyone here in the forum have the Teknetics T-2, please share your expirencies.
    Regards
