I made the C1 footprint large so you can use a bigger cap if you want.

As I wrote... it's enough for something to make me very angry... to the point where I faint and give up... and then being so angry I IMMEDIATELY find a perfectly easy solution!
The code seems to be flashed correctly.
Initial test shows good generated voltage... to be continued:

Say Carl... C1 is having large footprint as it was 10 000uF and not 1000uF?
    Confim or deny this, please.
Look on my photo above; i put 1000uF and it doesn't look right.

    Not yet.
Now I'm in the angry (productive) phase... and I'll dedicate a few days to trying to get Mplab to work with Pickit2 and support this processor.
I've come too far to give up so easily. A moment of weakness and fatigue... but I will continue.

    Hi Algan.
I don't mind sharing my PCB design, but please note that my design is still untested. My PCBs arrived yesterday, and I haven't had time to assemble any electronic components. I think it would be a good idea to wait a bit until I test a PCB and make sure everything is working correctly and that there are no design errors. Keep in mind that my design has many modifications compared to the original. I don't like posting something on the forum that I'm not sure will work or not.

Hi Eduardo, will you post the layout of your board? I would also order your version on my next order. I am currently waiting for Carl's original to arrive, but probably next week. Thanks.

I can't find a solution. I will have to put all this aside for some "better" times.
I will have to buy the Pickit3 which is more expensive.
And right now I'm too tired of all these very banal and trivial complications and don't want to waste my time on this anymore.
It's been months wasted waiting for all kinds of nonsense to finally happen... and now this.
    I give up.
I'll never understand why the latest MPlab didn't keep support for Pickit2?
Is it the old hunger for money?
But this is such a rubbish curse that I really regret wasting my precious time on all this garbage.

Ok, now I have an additional problem.
    I only have Pickit 2.
Pickit2 supported software is not having listed PIC16F18426 as supported device and vice versa; software that lists the PIC16F18426 as supported device ; not supporting the Pickit2 programmer!
I'm just browsing the net and trying to workaround that problem.
I'm an AVR guy, PIC is really hard for me...
    ,,,

From the very beginning, I can't seem to fulfill my desire to make this detector.
Everything is very slow, problematic and difficult.
    A thousand obstacles!

Use whatever you want, as long as it has the voltage & current rating. Different diodes can also give different flyback speeds, the STTH1L06 is decent but there are better.

I find it easier to find BYV26C instead of STTH1L06 in my inventory.
    Is that ok?

Here's my built PCB. The only jumpers added were to short the RX coil inputs to the TX coil so that I could run a mono coil. Normally you would do that in the coil connector housing.
