Audio Limiter
For Metal Detector
One of the improvements for the CS6PI was to lower the resistor Value connected to headphone socket, this made weak signals easier to hear , but loud signals became uncomfortably loud.
This circuit was developed for the Cscope CS6PI metal detector to limit the audio output, to allow faint sounds to be heard , but limit loud sounds to a comfortable level.
This circuit could be useful for other Analogue detectors where faint sounds indicate a weak signal.
This circuit uses germanium diodes to clamp the audio to 0.3 V , but this was still too uncomfortably loud on strong signals , therefore and extra series resistor was added.
