Maybe someone knows better, but I have seen good performing circuits with 5% resistors. It depends on your choice.

Also what type of resistor to use ? Carbon or ...... depends on duty and purpose you are using resistor, what job.

in some place 1% in some place 5% in some place 10% in some place 0,1% in some place 0,5%
in some place where you see 1% you can NOT set 5% resistor
in some place where you see 5% you can set 0,1 0,5 1 2 % one
if you have not 0,1% resistor you can choice it from big batch of 10% resistors

As hobbyists, it is just not worth stocking resistors with various tolerances. The easiest solution is simply to only stock 1% tolerance, given how little they cost. On the very rare (if ever) occasion where 0.1% is required, then you can always make a special purchase.

not every bom directly show which tolerance is desired so the answer of qiaozhi is right in most cases. the information on how many watt(s) is needed misses often. some of the resistors drive more current cause of higher voltage. therefore we have to study the circuit carefully. i know this is not new to you but others have these problems.

if you will measure every resistor you have not get a trouble. for example you have to solder 4k7, measured it gives 4,64 - it is OK.
another one gives you 5k - it is bad. why bad? be cause it close to 5k1 value, not to 4k7.

if you want to encrease a measuring accuracy stand by hot gun on one pin on 2 second. then wait some time resistor be cool down then measure it again.

I have a small folder with thick paper inserts on which I glue small batches of 10 to 20 resistors together with their cut-tape and replenish when needed. I have a whole E6 series organised this way, plus some extra in between. It is quite handy to find a resistor you need this way. Only through hole. Just grab them, and when a certain value runs low, I buy another batch. Easy.
One seldom needs any value outside the E6 series. 1% tolerance is called for only when you need to match different signal paths, but that's a special case.

malaysia does all electronics in world while lithuania does nothing. our place for keeping of resistors. why i answer here i do not know. every phillippine can simply go in any shop and buy the perfect organaizer with no tiny problem for lowest price! a great shame that Lithuanians can only support Pentagon's plans and ruin the country!!!

I remember the good old days of storing everything in matchboxes and tobacco tins. Now everything is disposable plastic including the lighter.
