Well, TGSL has moreover slightly simplified oscillator, negative voltage source is different and also audio. But, that is what "Light" in TGSL stands for, doesn't it?

I didn't realise there was a hate campaign going on in this thread.

The TGSL stands for "Tesoro Golden Saber Lite", which just means that it's a Tesoro Golden Sabre stripped back to the absolute minimum. The result is a simple but effective detector that should be quite easy to construct. In reality, many people decide to build this design as their first introduction to electronics, and even make their lives more difficult by not using a commercial Tesoro coil, and not having access to an oscilloscope.

What KT315 is trying to show, is that you can also strip back the Cobra to its absolute basics, and effectively end up with a GMKCL, like the TGSL, but not so easy to say.
