I have issue that my surfmasterpro that I bought from eBay detect iron and junk material for 30cm to 50cm but it doesn't detect gold or silver even 2cm. Is there anybody have this problem.and how to solve it?

Why do you even post here? You don't EVER help anybody, jut smart ***** sarcastic comments. Did he say he was expecting discrimination? No! He said it will detect iron and will not detect gold or silver. This forum is about people building metal detectors and looking for help doing so. Not a place where kt315 just tells everyone they are wrong. I suggest next time you READ the post before posting kt.Originally posted by kt315 View Postnobody said you surf has the discrimination. this is ocean and sea usable detector underwater seeking the gold figgery.
try now VLF detector building with clear disc ferrous-nonferrous.

What are the specs on your coil? I made that same kit and mine wouldn't work for crap with my first coil. wound a second coil, just a bunched wire coil right at about 300uh. Set my damping with the new coil and that woke everything up. You are going to need a scope to set up your surf correctly. You can get it usable without a scope, but it will not be as sensitive. Sorry about kt, he only likes to tell people they are wrong and he is right. People used to say he has good intentions and it gets lost in translation, but from what I've seen that's bull.Originally posted by Hach View Post
With very clear respond more than 40cm
Air test
Unfortunately I don't have oscilloscope
Any advice may be help
And thanks in advance

yes,PI is MORE sensitive to ferrous. NOT TO GOLD. you must learn more physics and do not bore kt315.Originally posted by dime196604 View PostWhy do you even post here? take a VLF, turn it in ALL-METALL mode and you will see same issue - good sens to ferrous, bad sens to gold.
just because one general NATURE as for PI so for VLF. perfect Fuko currents conductivity for ferrous,
bad Fuko currents conductivity for gold. or, in american tradition, EDDY CURRENT.
so not mention kt315 here. seek the problem in YOUR unknowledge.

Hach, at first I thought you bought a White's Surfmaster PI Pro on eBay, but I see it's a PCB you then built. When things go right, this is an easy circuit to build. When things go wrong, an oscope is just about necessary to figure it out.
My questions were based on the possibility that the transmitter is either not working, or just barely working. A big piece of iron can produce a response whereas a coin or ring won't. If the transmitter is working, the damping resistor should be warm. Probably the FET, too.
If the transmitter "feels" like it's working, then the next likely culprit is the RX timing. That's where an oscope is essential.
KT, I have to agree, your response was incredibly unhelpful. Maybe try to limit your posts to helpful responses.Originally posted by dime196604 View PostWhy do you even post here? You don't EVER help anybody, jut smart ***** sarcastic comments.
Dime, try to ignore posts and people you don't like. Life will be better!

Try something like 26 turns. I think 100 turns would cause the first sample to be pegged to one of the power supply rails, this would explain the iron only response with only the second (late) sample workingOriginally posted by Hach View PostMy coil 13cm with 100turns wire size 0.6 with insulation

Ah yes, I missed the 100 turns. Way too high.Originally posted by Altra View PostTry something like 26 turns. I think 100 turns would cause the first sample to be pegged to one of the power supply rails, this would explain the iron only response with only the second (late) sample working

Hi. I try 26 turn then I get iron junk detections 20cm maximum 25cm with week signal and silver ring 2cm to 5cm with so ****in too week to hear signal
I start to beleave that surfmasterpro diy is for junk material it doesn't detect gold or silver even if it's do the voice signal is soo week hard to hearing
