I saw that there is always a aluminium cable between the shield-foil and the rubber isolation in shielded wires, but never a copper one.

Nobody said that aluminium is better, sorry , i just thought that because its often used in shielded cables.

Maybe because its cheap and light.

I am shielding my coils at the moment and i have used aluminum wire and aluminiumfoil for it and i had good results.
Now i have copper bare wires and i need to know which one is better.

No, it is so, because using aluminum, there is no galvanic reaction (as it is between two different metals in contact).

Guess someone just decided to use aluminum. Aluminum is hard to bond too. You have to use a conductive glue or liquid soldering agent like used to repair PCB Tracks. I've seen people solder it before but I sure can't get it to work.

looks you are very happy there without a war.
every country SAVES copper as only its able and USES copper in shells. i see chinese wires done from clear STEEL! NO COPPER!
chinese changes aluminium and cooper EVERYWHERE on steel and thats sure mark it is preparing to war.

I have used Mylar tape for shielding an IGSL coil with good resuts. That Mylar was taked from a coax cable shielding.

I knew mylar was good for shielding but the tape part I like as you can use it to help tightening it up, If the adhesive is also conductive like the copper tape is.

The Mylar I used is conductive on one side, so it's better to wrap on that side, overlapping any turn with next one in order to form a homogeneous conductive shield.

I have never had any success using this type of shielding on IDX coils.

I have tried wrapping over a drain wire and wrapping the drain wire over the top. Seems fine when testing continuity

the only one that was okay failed after a few months of use. Annoyingly as it was all potted up and resulting in a scrap coil.
