The "V-rated" pertains to the null. This affects the peak overload point of the coil, but doesn't affect sensitivity. I don't recall a situation where I could use TX boost with max gain, so insisting the coils work at that level isn't necessary. When I worked for White's, I would hunt using coils that didn't pass "V-rating" cause I didn't care.

Reading from the post in Whites Forum you gave it seems the V rated coils are Nulled better then the stock coils. Being Nulled better they obviously would perform better. As a Go around as Carl stated just turn down your Rx Gain a bit. Not a big issue.

If you use TX boost, turn down the RX gain. Non-V rated coils aren't a big deal.

What makes you so sure it's the Coils ? Maybe the Boost is just set too High. V3i uses the same coils, Yes?

Okay this may be a dumb question, but here goes the whole story.
Recently bought a V3i from a fellow hunting buddy, it came with three coils.
10" D2, white and black SEF 10 x 12" coils.
It was super deal because he had to have the MX Sport.
The machine works good but one thing.


I guess I should have realized something before the purchase, but anyway.

The guy bought the machine new and it was the V3 which he sent in and had updated to the V3i. Now you might already know where I'm going with this.
All three coils fail the V rated test, high frequency settings and Tx Boost on. All give an overload. Now is there anyway to change or modify these coils to make them run with TX Boost on?


I'm guessing not.
