    I'm not sure why you're all discussing the Garrett Imaging coil when you can see clearly in post #2 by skorpio that he's asking about a 5-pin Garrett Crossfire coil.

    Anyway, whatever coil he has; the connector on the cable is always the same, with the same color labeled coaxial cables inside.
    They are all there inside even though on a regular coil one of them is not used.
    I understood that he got a coil from someone, on the cable of which some "smart guy" put an inappropriate "Switchcraft" connector.
    And that Skorpio is actually looking for the correct wiring arrangement on the original 7-pin connector.
    The "Scorcher" coil I mentioned; is one of the oldest coil.
    I had it back in 2000/1.
    And everything is the same on it as on newer coils.
    The "blue" coaxial cable is not used on it. Because it is not an "Imaging" coil.
    But it is still present and connected on the connector, and it ends up in the searchhead itself, not connected anywhere.
    So it is "standard" for all GTI coils.
    Since 2000/1 unchanged.
    ...

    Each of those coils has some additional components and some even a small pcb with components.
    Due to these components, it is very difficult to measure and determine which conductor is used for which purpose.
    So it's best to look at my sketch and connect the wires that way.
    Because I drew it (then a long time ago on paper) immediately with a new and correct coil, to have for the future, just in case, if something bad ever happens.
    And it turned out that I made a good decision then.
    Because later through practice I had many cases of overhaul and repairs of those coils and connectors.

    As it appears... the "second" RX doesn't seem to be shorted to ground at the Non-Imaging coils, as I thought.
    It was a long time ago, it was forgotten easily by me.
    Probably in that case the "second" RX is "shunted" on the frontend itself.
    In order not to introduce additional interference into the overall RX signal.
    I should look at it, on the pcb, draw the exact diagram.
    I used to have it on paper but I can't find it.
    In any case it is irrelevant to solving the problems that Skorpio has.
    I had to mention this, so as not to cause further confusion, because in previous posts I mentioned that the "second" RX was shorted.
    And it turns out not to be.
    So that assumption of mine should be ignored.

    P.S.

    That was the audio engineer spoke from me, because on audio preamplifiers the input is always shorted to ground (in connector),
    when the preamplifier does not receive any signal from the outside.
    The subconscious is a miracle!

    We've written a lot here... and we haven't helped Scorpio much.

    So I had to go through my extensive paper archive and find what Scorpio actually needs!

    Zoom In those photos to clearly see:
    1) First photo is RX board from GTI1500, you can see clearly two OP37s
    2) One of my GTI 2500s
    3) Best Imaging coil I had
    4) Non-Imaging coil "Scorcher" type, you can see the blue coaxial not connected, but as I recall it was shorted to ground on the connector side

    The Garrett GTI series uses two types of coils.
    "Regular" with 2 coils and "Imaging" with 3 coils.
    That's why for example the GTI2500 has two RX stages with two OP37s.
    When using a "regular" coil, one of the RX stages is inactive (shorted to ground at the input, as I recall).
    When using the "Imaging" coil, both RX stages are active.
    "Imaging" option is only for depth determination and graphical representation on the display. ("Gradiometer" principle)

    Without insight into the source code, I cannot claim that it has another role.
    But it is possible that the two RXs have an additional role.

    Good historic effort by Garrett.
    It will go down in history that they once tried and did it.

    i see on his pic the socket has erased pins. he must buy new socket, open the coil and check every wire by tester on Ohms. without this work all his 'where could the error be' is dead matter.
