CRT demagnetizing coil as a sensor coil?

Good afternoon. For the lazy one of us i get the idea of using ready made CRT demagnetizing coil. Have you tried such a setup? I just get one from 15 inches monitor and measured it. The induction is almost 4mH and resistance around 15 ohm. Did not check the self resonance yet but induction seems too much isn't it? When i have some free time will see how it performs if at all:-)

Hello, I have been using enameled wire as a source for these TVs for a long time, but as a sensor coil it would be large in size.

Well you are right. Especially its hard to find small size crt monitors nova days. At the end of their life the smallest size was 15 inch and that provides a coil with some 40cm diameter. At the beginning it was common to see 12 or 13 inches one (i've being using such second hand in the past), than 14 became a minimum. Using the enamel is also good idea however the neatly packed ready coil will be really nice if you can use. Lets check my junk yard at work, i might have some luck getting smaller than 15 inch monitor.
