    jk = just kidding

    I was just trying to point out that the Nexus coil thread seems to be getting frightfully off topic... I knew someone would be trolling for halo comments...hehehe.

    I actually believe whole heartedly in the halo effect....I have used a metal detector, but you are right in that I've never found an ancient item.

    Hi,
    oh sorry, I didn't understand your joke. Now is everything clear.

    Yes the nexus coil thread is full of halo now !

    Also to me the effect is strange and cannot explain why it happens... just have some ideas about.

    I've found ancient non-ferrous items, it's not so rare for me and so see it many times with my eyes, that's why I'm sure it exist.

    Kind regards,
    Max

    I read stories from many forums where metal detectorists find evidence of halo when they dig ancient coins and when they dig gold nuggets. This makes me wonder if there is something wrong with the tests that prove it does not exist. Did anybody test for halo on an ancient non-ferrous target that has been buried for more than 1000 years and measure the difference of detection length? The tests I read seem like maybe they don't account for some of the possibilities of halo.

    I know no scientific basis to explain why there could be a halo for non-ferrous buried targets. But how can science prove it does not exist when hundreds of people are reporting that they see it? Maybe there is a correct scientific reason why people see halos that has not been found yet?

    Best wishes,
    J_P
