  • White's IB detectors' cable type request

    Hi,

Does anyone can to forward me on what type of the cable Whites uses in IB detectors' coil like Classic, IDX, XLT etc.?

    TIA

    Hi Anatolij

If kt315 do not know this, who others can?

I will see at home if there are some markers on Whites cable.

Othervise you can try to ask Whites direct:

    [email protected]

I have good experience with them.

WM6, i am not a magician to know all
not hope on Whites via e-mail, thinking the request will be specific for a lady-on-desk.
that I see in a catalogue of ELFA, Sweden, although maybe Sweden is another planet for ConUS people. some cables are similar to the matter, IMO.

Sorry kt315, the only sign on my coils cable is "Whites Electronics". Cables sections are round shape.

I have Detech Excellerator coil for Whites too. This cable section is oval in shape, more like "Low-capacitive data and audio cable Alpha-Byte" from your catalogue. I would opt for this cable.

              Hi Don,

Are you sure that they use Belden 8723 Cable?

The Specifications of this Cable don't look too good in my opinion. But on the other hand, I am not a specialist in this field.

              Just curious, that all!

              Regards,

              Robert

Older loops for 6.792kHz detectors used Belden 8723. Newer loops for MXT/DFX use a custom-made cable.

Thanks Carl, I had a Hunch that you would Pop-Up on this one

So the Belden 8723 Cable would not match up to White's requirements for there newer MXT/DFX Loops. And they have even taken it a step further by making there own custom cables.

@WM6's advice to @kt315 to opt for "Low-capacitive data and audio cable Alpha-Byte" from his Catalog, and NOT the Belden 8723 Cable was apparently well founded to meet up to more modern requirements of a Search Coil.

Thomas Edison wants said in similar words:

I had tried 2000 ways to make a Light Bulb Filament, and only one way worked. What I had learnt was; 1999 ways how not to make a Filament!

So let's not use Belden 8723 Cable in our modern MXT/DFX loops!

                  Regards,

                  Robert

                    for the history....
Belden 8723 is used for the 1x1m loop by the Lorenz deepmax X3 (one turn)

thinking one turn of the cable gives us 4 turns into the coil if they are connected in serial?

I believe so....., but i did not measure the inductance of the 1x1m frame.

that I see in this coil cable with the problem... a shield is broken maybe on all his length... these parts of the shield have not electrical connection together.

this fact must give you a some mind in case you wish buy an oldie coil...
