  • Old PI vs new VLF on the beach

    Will a homemade PI machine , for example the Goldscan 5 from Eric Foster outperform a detector like a Minelab X-Terra Elite on the Beach ( using coils of more or less the same size ) ? I am asking this because I have a X-Terra Elite and most detectorists on beaches here use similar detectors ( Equinox, etc ) and I am thinking if using a Goldscan 5 will have the possibility of getting material at better depths in places where most detectorists with comercially available detectors are hunting.

    The same question I do for hunting in land for Roman coins.

    Generally speaking, with a mono coil and some effort on iron, a pulse can beat the #ss of many machines still today In terms of raw depth, just for a fact of less noise on seriously mineralized and wet ground.
    You might use more sensitivity than on your vlf in this scenario, but not necessarily means you'll be more efficient, considering the tons more signals you'll be forced to dig.
    Just curious, where in the world You can manage to take a Gold scan today?
