I blew two transistors on my Minelab Explorer and was able, through one of the members of this forum, to find out the part numbers for these componenes. What I need are C33740 and 32740 transistors. I have been able to find these on the intrnet, but do not need 10000. If anyone could direct me to a site where I can buy these retail it would be greatly appreciated. I also might take on one of the projects in the pi section so a few good ploaces to get hard to get parts would be great.

Blown Transistors
The C33740 and C23740 are also known as BC337-40 and BC237-40. They are 45V 500mA (npn and pnp respectively) general purpose transistors. The BC237-40 appears to be available from mouser.com for $0.07 each, but the BC237-40 is more illusive. It might be better to replace these with more readily available equivalents. My guess is that they're being used in a push-pull configuration to drive the audio output, so almost any npn/pnp audio driver combination will do the job. I very much doubt that they need to be spec'd to 40V anyway.Originally posted by jhettelI blew two transistors on my Minelab Explorer and was able, through one of the members of this forum, to find out the part numbers for these componenes. transistors
I am a bit confused as to the transistors needed for my Minelab Explorer. I did receive an e-mail from someone in upstate New York telling me that the transistors that I needed are as follows: 503 is C32740 and 504 being C33740. My recent reply by Qiaozhe in this thread states 503 as being 23740 rather than 32740. I am not sure if this is a typographical or a substitute. any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hmmm.... now I'm also confused. :oOriginally posted by jhettelI am a bit confused as to the transistors needed for my Minelab Explorer. Having a second look, it appears that both transistors are of the npn variety, so I'm not sure where that came from. Maybe I shouldn't be trawling this forum late at night.
However, as far as I'm aware, I never referred to either a 503 or 504 transistor.
Anyway, the datasheets for the BC237 and BC337 are attached. Hope this helps.Attached Files

thank you again for your reply. My problem was that in my original posting I had written that the one transistor was 32740, and your reply was for transistor 23740. So I was not sure if the transistor started with the numbers 23, or 32. Please do not be offended because of this question. About all that I know of this subject is what I can read and I do need the transistors and your help has been gratefully received. Thanks again

OK - I can see my stupid mistake. :oOriginally posted by jhettelthank you again for your reply. This should have been the BC327-40 and BC337-40. Datasheet for the BC327 is attached.
This is a link to mouser for the BC337 ->
http://www.mouser.com/index.cfm?&han...d&N=0&crc=true
But the BC327 appears to be discontinued ->

Since these transistors are used in the audio output stage, I really cannot see why they are rated at 40V. Presumably one of the lower voltage versions would be ok.
In which country do you live?
I know a supplier in the UK who has these in stock, but I think they're the 16V version. They cost the grand total of 12 pence each. It would worth a try.Attached Files

thank you for the help. I am in the U.S. but it may be worthwhile to purchase from the UK becasue that my be the easiest way to go about it. If you will send me the data I will get in touch with the company. Thanks again and I will be away from the computer from 10 through 18 June.

Use the Search box in the top right. Just enter BC327 and BC337.
If they cannot send to U.S., then I have a Maplin shop in a nearby town and can post these to you.
Good luck.
