  • Weller

I had and worked with the same Weller workstation for 22 years.
And then in 2019, the heater burned out.
    I almost died of sadness!
I could get new heaters at local stores, but my more experienced colleagues advised me not to.
For a couple of reasons; they no longer make them of such quality that they last a long time.
And the second reason is that it is very difficult to find an original one.
Colleagues told me: "it's just a waste of money, give it up".
Then I found this one from the picture on Ebay, never unpacked, sitting for decades in some warehouse.
But then I didn't have the possibility to buy directly from abroad, like today.
Then my local friend suggested that his friend in Germany buy it and bring it the next time he comes.
That never happened for reasons I won't mention here.
10 days ago, a "German" (of Serbian origin, born in Germany) came here by chance and we sat down to talk.
Totally by chance, for completely different reasons, he stopped by my place.
He turns out to be the "friend" who bought the Weller for me on Ebay!
Turns out that Weller spent all this time in his basement these years!
    Today he brought me Weller!
In the meantime, the soldering iron was used for a few hours. His son was soldering something a little.
    And the circle is closed!
I'm still under the impression, I can't get my head around it!

You can also buy them on Amazon and eBay, but slightly more expensive.

Yes, that's how it turns out in the end.

£35 is a lot less than the 110e price here at local retailers.
Plus add to that the above counter arguments.
But now I don't need it, this Weller has the original heater that is ~30 years old, worked for a couple of hours.
It is that first original quality.
My first Weller ran for 22 years with the same heater. I only changed the tips.
It is enough that this heater works at least half the time that the first one did.
