As the classic II and IDX use the same board it cant be much.

I have seen the Classic III HP schematics which has different internal jumpers put have no idea what coil the HP used?
Ok, Does anyone have a CL II and a CL III schematic to compare, I've found a CL I but no CL III. I know they both have 6.59khz freq, It has to be something on the frontend of the recv circuit. Still no call back form Whites.

Good day, I'm looking for the mod that will convert the Classic II SL with a 6B coil to a Blue Max. I've search the site and it was mentioned, but the links were dead. I bought this recently to use as a loaner unit and to put Mr. Bill's mods on. I've read that there a phasing issue going to the Blue Max. I called Whites, and that was a waste of time. With the Blue MAX smaller coils I would be able to broaden this old dogs abilities in trashy areas and or use a lager coil for open plowed fields.

    Best Regards

    Hi Tim.
the person sent me the coils from the USA to the UK free of charge. plus there was some other things in the box when they arrived that i wasn't expecting neither. i will have to return them the favor in some way.
they said that there garage was like Aladdin's cave. they said they had some other coils as well but couldn't get in very well to look properly.

Keith the black coil is a 950. Both that and the 256(DD) should work on your modified C-II. Perhaps with the beach mod the narrow field of the 256 would work on the beach with a slow sweep? (possibly going along the sand ripples).
You are quite lucky to be given these coils. I have been scouring ebay for years trying to get similar coils at reasonable prices. All, even at auction, have run up to over AUD$200 once postage to Oz is included. That is why I now intend to make my own, even if it takes 10 tries it will be cheaper. I bought an IDXpro with Mr. Bill mods, BM6x4, no lower shaft- cheaper than I can get a second-hand 256, 8 or 950"coil for...go figure??
