You don't just have to rely on sending an e-mail to a firm when you maybe left wondering if they are going to answer it or not. I remember phoning Whites in Inverness a couple of years ago and the person who answered was very helpful.

Good luck henrikras -why not go by ship or fly over for a short journey to Scotland - not so far from Denmark.

btw. I mentioned Denmark and Northern-Germany soon ago because of the english language
roots and the Anglos and Saxonians. You may have antique relatives there.

    > 1. In all this VLF work I was sure that a goldenring had high conductivity because of the round sharpe, it has not at this TDI..
Gold is Gold and low conducted ( newbie failure ).

Sorry my friend, but you was right and it wasn't a newbie failure. Gold absolutly is high conductive, even better than alu,
but it depends on the size and alloy! If you find natural gold it is high conductive, but most of the time in very tiny pieces
and alot jewelery consist only 1/3 or 1/2 of gold.

    Gold[note 3] 2.44×10−8 4.10×107 0.0034 [16]

    Hello Nenad

The TDI features are for advanced users. It can be possible to discriminate. Come to think of it, even watching some Garrett ATX Pro videos, you could be fooled into thinking it is a Goldscan in disguise - with a digital interface.

But you are right. VLF/PI. Different animals. TDI pulse induction = time domain instrument = P.I. VLF= frequency domain.

Reg has given many good examples. A nice bit of work here :
    http://www.findmall.com/read.php?73,1910809

And described also at the following threads :

    https://www.prospectingaustralia.com...111800#p111800

And here is a video by Reg showing the basic discrimination features : http://youtu.be/7ibDh4k-DuY

TDI is a pretty amazing machine.

Maybe a request like that is filtered. A warranty inquiry has to be replied to.
    Maybe give them a ring.

If I recall, the TDI Pro uses the same PCB as the TDI SL. (I should know since I designed them both, but I just don't recall.) The 'Pro on/off switch controls a FET switch, so it could be that the FET switch is shorted out and won't turn off.

Just made all the indoor test I could think of and I came to the conclusion that my TDI PRO properly is working perfect..
Okay the On/off isn't working, but that can be made.
Concerning the sens., I have to admit that I made two Big errors.
    1. In all this VLF work I was sure that a goldenring had high conductivity because of the round sharpe, it has not at this TDI..
Gold is Gold and low conducted ( newbie failure ).
    2. still to much VLF motion Detector working with DD coils. This type of coil my TDI came with only got a Very small spot were the signal is.. (Mono 12"), and I was swinging the target to fast over the coil. I should had done the swinging slow in the centre of the coil.
So I found out this; in all metal perfect sens. at all type of targets...(Golden mans ring and I got 13" and a good clear signal)
Gain 50% at all my test.
Same golden Ring and same settings, now GB fine ON and switch in low conducted 10 us delay, it came out at 11" and a clear signal. (2" less)
Then I made same test with a silvercoin, similar to a Roman (3 gram) and in all metal and I got 9"..Still with GAIN 50%.
(That isn't so bad) - then same coin with GB fine on and switch in high con. and delay at 25us, then this coin gave a clear signal a 7" (again 2" less).
The results is that in all metal NO problems, but in disc. High or Low conducted I got a little less...
But I would think this is normal. Don't you ?
Remember this is a indoor test and can only be a guiden...
Thanks to you, I got great help and now next step is; do I send the control unit to Whites UK service centre and get the on/off switch made or do I open it up my self and do it ! Henrik here need a good night sleep to deside that.
    Once more "THANK YOU".

Qiaozhi is right- there are dealers here in England that sell the Whites TDI SL PRO so Whites in Inverness must attend to any of their machines that need repair. I would just send them the box back if possible, but contact them first.

    1. The TDI PRO isn't sold in UK, Thats one reason to buy it in US. So I dont think they can help. I allso would say that customer service should had said that option.
    2. I will try some more test this evening... Thanks for the good idea to try in all metal with the GB off.
    3. I dont like to open it, before I deside yes or no to use the warranty, because I dont think it can be done with out you can see its been opend up.
Why not contact them and ask?
They do sell the TDI SL, so there's a chance they can fix it.
