XP wireless on Whites..

I dont know how many are familiar with the excellent XP headphones but here goes. In their latest models they have hardwired the transmitter on their boards from factory but on the earlier models you need to attach the transmitter to the board for the headphones to work and that module can be bought from any dealer.

Now, these headphone are first class. No lagg and no sound detoriation as far as I have compared to other very good detector specific ones. And they have 50 hours use between charges and great quality..

Is there a way to attach that transmitter to a Whites board? or any detector at all not from XP

Have anyone tried it.

I cant rest this idea before i know it cant be done and ofcourse it can be...

If the XP module simply connects to the analog audio and a voltage supply, then adding it to ANY detector would be easy. But if it's driven by digital audio packets from the micro, then not easy.

I have suspicion that there may be something else then just audio connectors.

Not a task i want to take on myself to test out and its a bit strange that none have tried or even thought about it.

Maybe the ones who tried was unsuccessful.

Will it help to post some pics of the module and drawings when it arrives?

Why not just buy a Bluetooth transmit and recieve module, then you can use them with ANY heapdhones.

I believe the XP ones use normal 433MHz and suffer from interference when you get more than about four people using them in close proximity. Best of all, you can simply plug a BT module into the existing headphones socket with no hacking your detector also, I find I tend to get "thick ear" syndrome with the XP phones, they sit ON the ear rather than around it thus providing poor external sound insulation unlike headphones made using ear defenders.

I have used many bluethoots and they all have lagg with all of my detectors. I know there is a few FM ones out there that have no lagg but I dont like them.

The XP phones work at high freq as you say, i believed it was above 500 somewhere but not sure.

I like the XP phones really and they report the sound as I need it. Beeing a sound freak aint easy... lol...

Hi,

I modified a set of Logitech headphones and after extensive testing using digital stimulation, I found the delay ot be less that 2mS. This was perfect for detecting.

The headphones I modded were Logitech F-0361A. Took me about a week to "hack" them, but the BT modules are some of the best I've seen. The sound reproduction goes way up to 14KHz too!!

I've done over 10 pairs and I regularly detect with most of these guys in groups of five or more. I have no interference problems in ANY area, AND best of all I've paried with my mobile too, so when an incoming call happens, the headphones automatically switch over (though it's USUALLY the Wife telling me to get back home)

Sound like a great Mod Sean.

But not something all of us want to take on i think.

Did you mod only the transmitter or has the lagg something to do with the headset too..?

Looks like Whites is going for bluetooth transmitter at the board in their next beauty ( omg yes... what a beauty ) .
