  • Amigo II lower shaft & Coil

    Hello,

I have an Amigo II that I would like to get a longer lower shaft for, or make one. Does anyone know where I can get an ABS or Alloy shaft for it. it need to be 3" to 4" longer than stock. I tried using the middle shaft from another detector but it was just to heavy.

My other question is installing a new coil. I have a 5.75 that I would like to replace the stock coil with. Is it a easy solder job or should I find someone to do the work?

I really like my Amigo II as a grab and go detector for Tot-Lots and quick park hunts. Are there any mods that can be done to make it a better machine? I have searched the forum and see there is one that looks like a Max Boost mod but done understand how its done.

    Thanks,
    Kelley

It might be possible to use a White's "tall man" lower rod, don't recall if the shaft diameter and knuckle are the same size. Soldering the wires in should be a fairly easy job; be sure to record the hookup before removing the stock loop. You could instead install a loop connector so you can swap loops.

There are ways to mod the Amigo, but most of them are for ground balance and disc. I would just leave it alone and enjoy!

      Thanks Carl,

At $10 I don't think I can go wrong. I found a picture of inside the compadre control box and think I can wire it up myself. I Just need to pay attention to the wiring and go slow on the soldering.

Once I change the coil, I know Tesoro will no longer work on it. Is it easy to give it a tuneup after its done? Anyone have a picture of the control box showing the pots and with to use for GB?

      Thanks
