Bounty Hunter Red Baron 7 Schematic
Hello Homefire , This model will take some time to find a schematic. Over the years , I have only seen some Bounty Hunter "Big-Bud Pro" schematics posted. Yes , It would be nice to have a schematic because the Red-Baron series of detector's , used a "Reverse Discrimination Circuit " . If I remember correct they made 3 or 4 Red Baron Model's ???So hopefully Someone on this Forum that owns a Red Baron may be able to help you with your important search............Take care .......Eugene -

RB3, RB5, RB7, RB7D, RB10, RB12, Mini-RB... maybe more. I traced out the RB5 years ago, I think the hand-drawn schematics are on the forums somewhere. I never completed them or checked for errors, so they are as-is. Maybe one day I'll put them in CAD, but it's super-duper-low on the list.

Homefire , while your waiting , search the archives of this Forum . I did not know B.H. had manufactured that many Red Baron model's. If all the Schematics are found and posted here , then we would know all the differences , and all the improovement they tried to make year's ago.I have never owned one . All I read is they had excellent discrimination on deep target's........I will check the archives of Geotech also , since the "reverse discrimination design" got my attention !!!....Take care.....EugeneComment

Homefire , I searched for hours , still no luck !! If you can get a crystal-clear photo of the circuit board and identify where the two meter wires are on the circuit board , we might be able to guide you a little on a troubleshooting procedure. Having a schematic is Great !!! And this detector goes back to maybe 1978 ???? In reality , with Metal Detectors , maybe only 10 to 15% of all Metal Detectors manufactured have a public schematic posted !!!! Anyway , do not throw that detector away , It is becoming a Classic-Collectable . If you are experienced , I believe you can repair that detector with just an ohmeter or DVM multi-meter. You have a short somewhere and I do not think it is a frequency issue , so oscilloscope is not necessary . But I always recommend to have one. I just have a 15 mhz Leader Oscilloscope which is old , almost as old as me , but in better shape , it had less whiskey
but I love it and it has made some money for me over the years. Also check all your control switches/battery test. Check your search coiland cables ... And If you can , try to acquire that detector from your friend , and post some pictures here , or he is welcome to join Geotech and post the RB-7 photos himself !!!....................Take care................Eugene

I received the schematic and Photo's from my freind in Australia!
Schematic is hand drawn and seems complete.
As per photo's He did not take one of the board I need to check.
I suspect he has lost the 8 vdc legs to operate op amps.
I asked him to send the beast to me, but shipping to the USA is about $50.00 each way.
This is going to be wild!
I need to get photo's from him.
Convert to PAINT!
Mark test points for him.
Tell him what to look for.
He is clueless on electronics.
Can use a soldering Iron.
Sorta knows how to use a Meter.
Are there any members in Australia willing to fix it for him at a decent price?
Symptoms:
No Meter movement.
No Audio.
Battery Checks, A and B are Good.

Hello Homefire , nice photos but not clear . But your right , 1 circuit board is almost completely missing from photo's . Sounds like a 3 pin voltage regulator is open such as a LM7808 ...........Aloha from the Desert...........Eugene

Power set up is a Zener and op amp ! No other regulator! That would be too easy!

homefire , he can check for cold solder joints !! I bet there are a few. The machine is a "classic" but it is very old . There are a few Geotech members in Australia , and I am sure they have not read your post yet ...So wait a few days , if no respose then he can pay postage both ways for repair , or he can give it to you as a gift.......

Hi all Just scored a red baron for 30 bucks. I'm in Australia. can someone send me a pic of the battery part of the circuit? and where it connects to the switch and to the board...........This is my best guess "+ and - 12 supply with zero volt common/ground"
+12 to red side of switch, -12 volts to purple side of switch and the common/ ground/ black to the circuit board where all the other black wires are soldered? Once I know that's correct I can start fault finding. but it looks like -ve half of the power supply is downComment

A friend down yonder gave me a schematic for it not long ago.
If you want it I have to Mail it to you.
I have no way to fax with reasable results or scan it.
I can try if you want!
It's a sorry coppy at best!
It's complete but of copy of the copy Quality!
A photo copy would work.
