  • Garrett Treasure Ace 300

Need partial or whole schematic of Garrett Treasure Ace 300 (old model).
Just got it and it is not working. Something busted. When switched ON a few bars appears on display and dim fast. Voltage on main battery drops fast from 9 volts to 4 volts (!!!) when switched ON.
I tried to trace out the problem. There is some small smt ic (8 pins) with pretty strange label to me; SOL05C !?!?!? Voltage is going from battery through ON/OFF switch directly to that IC. I assumed it is a sort of voltage regulator, but wich one? Removed from pcb and i saw some obscure traces bellow. It is not just ordinary voltage regulator....can not find it on internet, at least not with this label???
So...i need at least that part of schematic to fix the damn thing!
    Many thanks in advance!

It is TL750L05C actually !!!! Damn manufacturers and their scrabble games!!!

There is undervoltage sensing circuit MC34064 here. With or without it nothing changes, simply because there is certain problem at +5V supply?? Something draws power much and 750L05c cant maintain +5V at output?
Just to test circuitry i replaced 750L05C with ordinary 78L05 - same thing!
At 78L05 input there is 9V battery, at output i get +2.8v bairly!!!
Nothing hot, nothing burned...nothing working! Hrmmpff!
What could cause simillar problem? I dont have a clue for real. 2 x 9V batteries...separated... awkward Garrett battery sockets allows battery to be reversed. So....if reversed than also nothing should be burned cose circuit has excellent protection! Huuh! This is most probably most obscure problem i ever had so far!
      Yelp!

        !
How cannot be regulator hot at such voltage drop? What voltage is on 7805 output without load (by breaking supply line from regulator to circuit)?

          Haven't tried yet. Good thinking!
Smt....i dont like smt! That's why things are going very slowly!

All ic's and active components removed from pcb, escept uPc. Instead low drop regulator i put again 78L05. All elco's also removed and checked, those are good. 2 transistors and one diode on pcb checked and are good. I even removed FPX100 (quartz or clock oscillator, 4 pins - 3 used).
Same behavior, when power ON, voltage at 78L05 drops fast to 2-3V. So i shut off it very fast to void any further damage.
So...only uPc and passive components remained on pcb. This leads me to conlcusion that uPc is burned!
How good chances are uPc to be burned? I havent met so far simillar situation, especially on devices with this kind of power regulation and protection. I also saw traces of previous attempts to service this md. Maybe that previous servicer made some stupid mistake with power supply and burned uPc...? Most probably...
I have no idea what to do more...except to scrap it!

Internet is a HUGE pile of $HIT! I already knew that before. But day by day that is proving more to me.
I am thinking to finally give up from internet and not to waste more money on that crap. Why? Man can only get unneccessary and unwanted crap from internet, but when comes to need something real and fast - no way to get that easy and fast!
Damn uPc at Garrett Treasure Ace 300 is actually National Semiconductor S9812AD. And i was thinking to find it's datasheet and to analyze it a bit. No way! Google gives me trillion nonsenced links mentioning "S9812AD" but no way to get any closer information, .pdf or simillar. Same case each time i ask for something rare or obsolete.
Trillion sites offering trillion stupid and idiotic questions and formulars and nothing else. Makes me sick of all that $hit! Once for all!
I am paying certain sum of money on monthly bases as user of dsl connection. For what? For nothing!
I went to National Semiconductor official site and got lost there! Totally lunatic and idiotic organisation on that site. You have to go through several pages and answer some idiotic questions and at the end, totally exhausted and tired to get answer like "...no part in database.." . Well...NS, UP YOURS!
Also there are zillion idiotic chinnese sites offering something like : "s9812ad $%$%@^#$&^^&^%@^#%&" . Clicking on any of the links will open another zillion idiotic pages.
Day by day i am more and more exhausted with this crap. I am wasting to much precious time on nonsences.
I have payed dsl for this month. When expire i will deeply rethink to give up of connection and forget internet for good.
HUGE PILE OF $HIT! Nothing else!

Translated from Chinese, mean: obsolete, discontinued, end of life component.

                Don't return DSL!

Nothing good from internet latelly. Forums are dying slowly, nothing new to hear and see, everybody ask only for money, internet turned to a huge and agressive market place. They want money!? They can get from me only one fat, huge and greasy....palo alto!
Only reason i am still using this $hit is cose i made many good friends arround the world and it is cheaper way to conntact with them by this $hit than by telephone - only reason!
For example you, several friends from this forum and several friends from other forum...and few Skype conntacts.

                  Back to subject;
i am not growing hopes that i will succesfully fix this Ace 300. Most probably damn s9812ad is damaged. How? I really can't say. But was hoping to turn it to fully analogue detector; to reject uPc from pcb and to make modifications. On many other designs it would be trivial job, but on this one it is having chance to be good because i traced pcb and saw that uPc is actually playing here minor role. Drives simple LCD and almost nothing else. Maybe something else but simple and replaceable with conventional analogue elcetronics.
90% of schematic is fully analogue, ordinary, "conventional" Garrett machine. Rejecting uPc will need, of course, addition of another components which will succesfully replace uPc functions. It is very simple uPc engagement here, not like on more advanced machines.
Only thing i need is damn datasheet. Almost impossible to find it on net.
                  At least impossible for me...

This is not true, some asking for gold too.

Maybe thing S9812AD is dedicated timing and LCD controller and not u-controller for general use.

S9812AD may be his birth date... 1998 year, 12th month? what the full label you see there on?

                            Look!
                            So it is "COP..." !!!

                            Thank's much KT315!

Ok... i traced a part of pcb. Part that interested me much. Of course i will continue tracing whole pcb in next few days.
But this parts (TX and RX) interests me much cose of coil i have.
I haven't measured all the components yet. Need to resolder some components to be measured accuratelly. Soon.

So far i did only this..

Coil must have some components inside. I can measure TX, so i measured 4 ohms and 2.4mH. But i can't measure RX. I presume must be some capacitor in serie with RX coil and most probably some 200K resistor between RX and TX...inside the coil housing.
