Help colleagues . Is treshold should work without connection to the coil ? For me, does not work with the coil and without coil . Is this a problem with the LM308N ? Do LM308N used instead of a replacement, for example NE5534P ?

My 8 inch Tesoro concentric coil has gone intermittent. I completely destroyed
it trying to take it apart and repair it. I did manage to make some measurements
during the process and decided to build a copy as best I could.
This is my fist attempt at metal detector coil building. My background is
designing and building magnetic resonance coils for research projects at VHF and
UHF frequencies but not 17.5 KHz. I thought this would be fun project and maybe I
could learn something in the process. This blog has been more than helpful when
it comes to information although the Tesoro Lobo Supertraq doesn't seem to have
many followers. I thought I should contribute.
This is my finished coil. I made a document in case I had to do this again in
the future and thought maybe the information could be useful to someone else.

What kind of diode is D1? Same sound circuit is used in "verator 3" and "thunder 7".

LOBO M.LAY6, IC 7555 pins 3 and 6 connected. I think this is not correct. Should be pin 2-->6.?
