Thanks my friend for your information.
in my case, i just place a small wire solded to crystal case and then to gnd. This let me get more stability.
I also tried to run the detector with 12 volts has Sasho points on his schematics, but the circuits acts very unstable, so i must go down to 9 volts again.
Now i m planning to put a voltaage regulator, so this will allow me to use the detector with 12 volts battery, and work the circuit with 9 volts.
However, detecting range is ok.

no mods

but at moment i got vandal 1 back to optimize
priblem was that you could only adjust in a range of 1mm at front pot (sens) to get best performance
i replaced sens trimmer 50k
and threshold 100k

with 50k 10turn bourns pots for both so resolution is higher

i think big problem is coil but once you find right specs it runs god
problem is like all pi you have to find cable to make coil with enough L and low R
and all not to big so that it fits into coil shell

hello

i need more info for adjusting vandal 2
i made coil 36cm from 0,5mm2 litz wire 16turns
but coils rings very loud so i think coil damping is not right
and i cant adjust this coil to give good results

i will try to rebuild coil with massive core wire 0,6mm 16-18 turns 36cm

but setup is unclear at moment

the are 3 pots
sens
tune
fine tune

before i set onboard offset trimmer to +1,5V (or another better working value)
where should i set the 3 pots

should i turn them all counterclockwise in mid position or where else?

for a 1m square coil i use 10turns of 1,5mm2 litz wire (audio loudspeaker cable)
results are good 0,75l alu can at 1,20m in air

but for smaller coils i think massive core cable or magnet copper wire is better

Nelson I believe you, that Vandal 1 clone from Sasa design. I believe that the Vandal 1 is not good (you are fooled) because the detector was withdrawn from sale. Looking at the picture I see that Vandal 2 is not Sasha design, whether it is good I do not know...

Genuine author of some construction idea used, has at least moral right to be clearly indicated and not denigrated or misused.

If there is no commercial limits expressed from author in open published schematic, you are free to build and sell kits from it, but moral IP right remain unchanged.

Well i use to build my own pcb and metal detectors too. But somtimes my work don´t allow me to build metal detectors.
The MD i build are good, so thats the reason i demand good working metal detector kits.
Anyway, this was a bad expirence, so next time i will aski for another people that build excellent MD too.

Unfortunally i notice that vandal 1 was a clone from sasho schematicas after i pay for it.
Having a web site showing that you sell metal detectors it means nothing to me. Every one can build metal detecotrs from not their own designs and then sells them on the net.

Is ok for everyone to sell metal detectors, but i don´t like when some people says that some units are they own designs when this is not tru
