  • Some questions about SSS's electronics

    Hello guys,

My name is Miquel, I’ve been reading all the information in the SSS Forum and now I ‘ve begun to build my own SSS.

First of all I’ve asked for prices of xducers with this characteristics :

    For Piezo-Kinetics:

    Material type : PKI-402, Navy type I
    Shape : Plate
    Length : 50 mm
    Width : 12 mm
    Thicness : 3.3 mm
    Frequency : 615.8 KHz (Thickness)
    Quantity : about 15 or 20

    For Channel Industries :
Material type : C-5804 (Navy Type III)
    Shape : Bar (thickness mode)
    Length : 50.8 mm
    Width : 12.7 mm
    Thicness : 3.37 mm
    Frequency : 624 KHz (Thickness)
    Quantity : about 15 or 20

Now I’m trying to design the electronics using the Sture’s squematic (posted at SSS forum in August 18, 1999), but It’s to complicated for me. So I’m thinking about to use a PIC microcontroller. My problem is that I don’t Know what have to do the reception and transmission circuit.
To express in concrete terms, my actual problems are :

    1.- Transmission circuit.
1.1.- What kind of signal I’ve to apply to the xducer, whose are its characteristics ( like Frequency, Power, Volts, etc.)

1.2.- What frequency I’ve have to apply this signal to the transducer.

1.3.- What would be the Block Diagram of the Transmission circuit.

    2.- RECEPTION CIRCUIT.

2.1.- What does the ECHO signal look?
2.2.- What would be the Block Diagram of the Reception circuit.
2.3.- How does it work (the recpetion circuit) ?

I was wondering if somebody could help me, because I don’t know how to go on with the project.

    Thanks for all
Working...
