  • From transducer to system - thoughts?

    Hey, all;

    I'm "graduating" from using my Burton M1 high-res sidescan to a mix of experimental Lowrance units and an older Klein type. I'm thinking it'd be nice to use the Burton somehow since I spent about $3k on it when I bought it. It's a nice transducer, it's just the head unit that's a bit dated/less than useful (It's a lowrance 480M with some custom code)

    I could try to sell it, but I was also thinking if I could find a new set of "head" electronics for it that might solve some issues too. I know the transducer will work to some extent with any 200khz head unit.

    Does anyone know of a computer based system where I could connect a tow cable and run the transducer? I'm guessing it'd be something like a high speed A/D converter, a pulse generator, and a low noise amplifier plus custom software.

    More generally does anyone know of a smallish head unit that records (rather than prints) data that can run a 200khz transducer?

    Erik
