S, this is an old information (published in 2006).
Battery consumption 3W continuosly means that ML designers don't know how to design equipment for QRP amateur radio.

If you ever get opportunity to try Vallon, be prepared for a mild shock - all the clunky stuff is kinda missing there. Even the coil is neat. A complete contrast to a lunch box oversized vision of MD electronics control box.

I managed to get some Vallon coils and shafts on ebay and I agree they are very neat and well designed. Pity there was no electronics though. The Vallon unit is PI but the coil has an unusually high inductance, nearly 1500uH. I got one working well on a Goldquest SS electronics and hope to use it on the local beaches when the cold blast from the East abates.
