hi to all im in leeds westyorks ive got a problem with a 1266x bought it in bits off the bay but im confused as to why its got a paper clip souldered to the black wire were does it go and what purpose does do cheers peter

hi Peter, perhaps the black wire goes to schematic earth, the paper clip makes a contact to sheilding. some kinda Faradey electrostatic field protection inside the housing of the board.

hi pete, listen to kt315, he knows his stuff(just like the majority here), pictures are needed, with nice clear pictures i have no doubt this forum can help you, there is a lot of experience with the older fishers here, but i think a couple of differences between versions.

Just as kt315 says. I have a 1265... it also has the paper clip soldered to a black wire that is connected to "earth" and is clipped to the heavy foil shielding that lines the enclosure.Originally posted by kt315 View PostComment

hi put it back together and it does nothing not a beep or anything bought new battery pods and battery's still nothing guy on the bay said it worked fine any ideas does any one fix these its the twin board model thx peterComment

did you buy it as working?, or was it sold as seen?, if it was sold as working get onto paypal or ebay.
it could have been damaged in transit.Comment

you do not hear a beep. 1. no battery contact 2. no speaker contact. check headphone connector. check speaker itself. check presence of voltage
