fitting a earphone socket

hi guys.

anyone know how i would add a earphone socket to this detector. i have a socket that i could use, it is in the second picture. just need to know if one could be fitted and how. thanks in advance guys...

First you need to find the Existing Speaker and Wires to it.

i have showing in the picture were the speaker wire plugs in to.

1. Do you want the speaker goes off if you plug the earphone in?
2. Or totally without speaker?

If 1. find out where you're socket interrupts the connection if something is plugged in.
Usually its the ground.

If 2. connect the socket directly.


If nothing is in the jack some flexible metal-part closes a bridge from ground pin a to ground pin b so the speaker is
connected.
If you put in the earphone jack it gets interupted so the current only flows through the headphones.

You should wire left and right audio together because the detectors output is mono -
so you can hear the signal on both headphone-speakers.
And better use a big audio jack and not 3,5mm, its more stable while in real usage.

My Speaker is a Piezo speaker, but in your case it is probably a normal speaker.
This 3.5mm jack works good and is Relialable.

thanks again guys....... i may have a go at fitting it this after noon since things have quieted down a bit now from chrismas.

all done now guys and it works a treat.....
can i ask you guys if anyone knows what the adjuster pot on the board is for. i haven't touched it. just wondered if it would adjust the depth of the detector or someting like that.
