  • Eric Foster - Sandpiper P.I.

    Hello,

Does anyone have information on the Sandpiper ? Just a guess, but the name suggests it was for the beach. When did this detector come onto the scene ? Does anyone have a scan of the manual for this exact model ?
One interesting thing about the Sandpiper is that it shares the same controls for the SAT stabiliser/reset seen in another of his detectors.
(Sometimes, I think it would be a nice tribute if we could build a "family tree" of the hobby and prospecting P.I's Mr Foster designed and created over the years.)

Probably something as forerunner of his still available CS4PI:

Good speculation, WM6. But it would be nice if someone has specifications for the Sandpiper. Maybe someone has an old magazine/vendor advert or similar with details ?

(CS4 may have been an independent evolution (by Cscope) from the original CS6 designed by Mr Foster.)

But back to the Sandpiper. Looking at the type of labeling, it appears to hail from the same era as other early 90's models ?

WM6, CS4PI 6PI are LATEST his models he stopped at point in his evolution. those HIGH INDUCTANCE monocoil he used - 1mH (MILLI HENRI).

EARLY models ALL were LOW INDUCTANCE 300uH (MICRO). pls do not confuse.
IMO its absolutely identical to MPP schematically, although you can build HH, Surf, Bara, writing a label on it
SANDPIPER - nobody does not fell deeply difference just cause oneconception-onewaydirectionticket.

I thought, generally speaking, it was the other way round ? Older models higher inductance, and newer vice versa ? Same with pulse repetition rate, older/slower, newer/faster ?

you can build Sandpiper right now. only read http://www.geotech1.com/forums/forum...Minipulse-Plus
George did huge job on it. believe me. Sven's page on Mirage PI http://www.treasurelinx.com/mirage_pi.html

kt, is there a problem with translation ? I'm asking about the Sandpiper ? Do you have any manuals or magazine/vendor adverts for the Sandpiper ?

I never had problem with classic english my friend. if you want you may ask directly from Eric Foster alias Ferric Toes
but thinking he did not give you answer because had retired.

Anatloy, this is exactly the reason I ask here. (Because the man has retired.) I'm not interested in building. Pulsepower Developments and Eric Foster built so many models. But no one remembers.

Here are some instructions from the Goldscan 4. It looks similar.

Sorry Orbit, this are only pictures of the instruction. I don“t have it as text. So you can only translate it by writing the letters to google translate or a similar program.

                            Hi Michael and Nenad,

Yes. The colour scheme of the labels is very similar. Maybe same vintage as the GS4 ? Certainly the auto/hold toggle switch and reset push button show that they share some of the same circuit.

I know how it works but I thought there was translation instruction in Serbian because I see Mschmahl or Michael speaks Serbian ,I am also asked a few years ago instructions for my original gs 4 and someone put I do not remember who .
