    It's not at all critical, but for a starting point 200mm x 250mm x 25mm.

No he ain't . He's an *******. He banned me from the off-topic section because I had a different opinion of his friend- Dankowski. He also let his pets break the rules here on my thread without saying anything to them. He is not nice or fair and he doesn't have to be. The record will show that, but he has the option of making this forum look like he wants. He has the right to do so , but a nice person wouldn't do that.

Kemper, this is a tech forum not facebook

Here's your chance to do it your own way and have full control

You sound like a salesman. What I said is true. If you followed what I referred to enough to comment on it, you should know that.
I always have full control of what I do. Carl has control too but uses his control to avoid speaking out against his pets that break the rules, while he attacks me, although I posted within his rules and on topic in off-topic. If some of you would give the same consideration to other aspects of the forum as you do to technical issues, the forum may operate as advertised.

I realize it doesn't have to.

I have no personal problem with anyone. I just discuss facts of matters so people may be better informed as to what is going on. People like you you may care more about detectors than people and you have that right. That is not unusual but you should probably limit your opinions to detectors.

Hi everyone..Can anyone help. I have built a Two Box detector is it worth shielding the transmitter coils to reduce ground effect? If so i assume the shielding will 'not cover' the lower part of the vertical transmitter coil pointing downwards and the horizontal receiver facing towards the transmitter coil?

The coils in a two box are at 90 degrees. Does anyone know when an object is detected, does the phase detected (if you compare transmitter/Receiver signals) of the object stay constant when walking across the object or is it similar to doppler where the phase will change as the angle changes as the transmitter and receiver move crossing the object?

Shielding is always a good idea, it can reduce EMI noise. You cover the whole coil except for a small gap, see other coil-building posts for details.

There is no Doppler effect in metal detectors, but phase can vary as you pass over. This is especially true for iron targets where the total phase response is a combination of a magnetic response and an eddy response. As you pass over, these can vary in their ratio. A 2-box can make it more pronounced because the angle of the TX flux lines is very position-dependent.
