  • Choose your Vanquish

Minelab keeps dropping a new ‘lineup’ every year that somehow all run the same engine, like Pokémon evolutions nobody asked for.
    Look what they invented now!?

    Oooahahahahahah!
    The story repeats itself!
Back in the days of Christ I experienced the same thing with the Musketeer series.
"50 new" models with the same machine and the same performance.
I have sold all Vanquish models and have no intention of buying any more.
Last year I raved about the box design and ergonomics of the Vanquish series... and it seems they heard me at ML; they did the opposite now! Oooahahahaha!
So... how do you comment on this while remaining civil and polite?
    ...

Paul! Are you there? Is this typical Ozzie humor?
Everything you praise them in public - they immediately do a opposite and screw everything up!
    ...

Ok, now at least I know how to "steer" with ML decisions in the future!
Anything I want them to do on the new model; I'll criticize until I'm red with rage!

Ok, I have an idea how to humiliate XP and the other chicken coops... it would be ideal if ML "kreeps" made the next series like this: XP forces "wireless" and "we will" force models with "too many wires" on purpose!

And I immediately have an idea for the next series, a few months after this next series, a Vanquish with very special ergonomics for people with crooked necks and low foreheads!

I always thought the old Vanquish looked like it was designed by an amateur, very klunky looking. The new ones have that awful cellphone-on-a-stick format, made worse by the big tumor on the back of the pod where (I assume) the battery goes. I guess they are not aware of flat LiPo batteries. At least the new ones are waterproof.

Well... Fisher F2,F4,F5,F11, F22 and F44 (are there any others) are similar in design.
Basically, I love this design, for reasons explained many times before.
It is the right design for steep terrain, for tight, angular hills with lots of small vegetation and bushes.
The Vanquish 340, 440 and 540 are ideally suited for such terrains. Apart from the odd color combination...
It's a design for true detectorists, not for hobby walkers in city parks.

"Cellphone-on-a-stick format" is a good term!
I think it all started with the Deus 1 model and since then everyone has been copying and following that design.
But the Deus 1 has a big excuse, because it's wireless.
From 2012 when I bought it, until today; I have NEVER attached a Deus 1 remote to a stem!
In total, I didn't work with it like that for even 20 minutes.
I have a leather holster that has a loop and I always carry the remote control attached to my collar, with the holster unfolded.
Ideally close to my eyes and ears, ideally protected from branches and other obstacles.
But all the other "wired" design clones... are totally uncomfortable for serious work.
        ...
        Ha,ha,ha, oh Yes!
I also immediately paid attention to "the big tumor"... I wondered if it was the battery.
But I noticed it has slots, so I think it's the speaker.
Maybe the battery is there at the same time, it's hard to say.
The only good side of that "tumor" is that its presence protects the coil cable quite well from sudden bending and possible damage.

IVCONIC is definitely a battery....,,as for the panel design.. I don't mind any type of design,,as long as it doesn't interfere with the detector control..
The new Vanquish will be able to use coils from Equinox, which is a good move...
