Metal detectors with Frame Coil

Hi dear friends,

I am hardware designer and amateur about detectors. I am interested as a hobbie. I saw a video on social media that a man was searching meteorites with a detector such as below. Google says it is frame coil detector but i could not find so much information. Do you know why this devices is used especially and what is difference with the classical metal detectors. Also is there any schematic related to this kind of devices.

"Frame coil" detectors are all pulse induction (PI) designs with a coil attached to a PVC frame. There are lots of PI designs posted here, and also discussions about large frame coils. Do a search for more info.

They don't have a shield, and they don't have to be rigid, it is that correct ?
