Are older Minelabs worth it these days?

Hey guys there's a local selling the older Minelab sd2000 and the sd2200 just wondering if they are a decent detector? or by today's standards, I now they are probably 25+ years old, are they in the cheaper range or mid range or good ones? I'm assuming half decent.

I'm getting back into detectors and going up to my relatives leas west of Atherton Queensland and I don't want a cheap one and have to upgrade later.

Any feedback on these would be greatly appreciated

It all depends on the purpose and your intentions.
They can be total "overkill" or they can be modest.
It all depends on what kind of finds you will most often look for, on what kind of soils, etc.

His leas is west of Atherton in Queensland and there's a creek that runs through it. He has found deeper stuff like a couple of feet deep right through to surface nuggets but we don't think there's anything big there but who knows, we find alot of smaller stuff about a couple of millimeters and some about pea size.
There's also specks in amongst the rocks in the creek too.

So hope that helps in the explanation for what I'm looking for.

Most of the stuff that could be found with an SD2000 or 2200 has been found, unless you are hunting private/virgin ground. They were capable detectors in their day but now just about everything has surpassed them. I suggest you try to rent a couple of detectors to try out, I did that in Maryborough. No idea if there is anything close to you. I suggest a GPX6000 and/or a Gold Monster 2000.
