Well - you can hardly believe it!
Despite all these datasheets you need to doublecheck everything by hand.
Last week I bought some negative 5V regulators and the bl**dy pinouts are reversed! Would you credit it!
Instead of the usual gnd-vin-vout these were vout-vin-gnd. It took quite some time to identify the cause of the problem, but eventually I tested one device with a bench power supply.... BIG BANG!... and the top disappeared into a corner of the room. Oh well - mystery solved, and I still 3 more left.
