This calculator is not really suitable for designing metal detector coils. It's aimed (no pun intended) at solenoids, and can only provide calculations for a maximum outer diameter of 100mm.

500 mm x 0.03937 = 19.7 inches

Yes, you are correct.
There is a radio button at the bottom left, where you can toggle the maximum range between 100mm and 500mm. However, this calculator is still intended for solenoid design.
