Equivalent for NE5534

Yes and no. The inverting input observes the equivalent resistance. That's why you can't find a very low noise with low gain - lower input resistance comes with higher gain. With over 4nV/sqrt(Hz) at 5534, 11k is OK.

Doesn't the feedback resistor noise get added into the business as well? Most frontends have rather large feedback resistors to pump up the gain, which spoils the amplifier's inherent low noise. Correct me if I'm wrong, but 5534's popularity as a PI frontend partially lies in its relatively rapid recovery for an old "standard" design?
--edit--
never mind, I seem to be tripping the bollocks, transimpedance coupled amp noise improves as the sqrt of feedback resistance!

I have the AD8510 amplifier. Can he use in the metal detector instead NE5534?

Maybe the 833 would be worth a try as a split low gain preamp for PI rather than a 5532.

LM833 is considered the same thing, yet some say it is even better. Power consumption is not superb though.
Some also say NE5532 becomes even better if a few kohm resistor is connected between a negative rail and it's output, as it forces the output operation in class A. Makes sense.

Compared to some of the other Treasure & Metal Detecting forums, you will find my rules to be rather simple. I pay for this web site, 100%.
