A good choice is to make a pak with AA batteries 2400.... 2800mah.

Stick with good quality NiCad type. NiMh deplete them selves .

Use the highest Ma you can find.

The ACE only consumes about 70mA, so even 1800mAh capacity NiMH's will give long life, there's no need to get the highest capacity types.

NiMh Chargers

NiMh Batteries have to be charged in a certain way. Most of the battery chargers on the market are made very cheaply made & don't charge the NiMh batteries correctly.

That's a good point. I use a LaCrosse BC-900. It has several nice features, including several different charge current settings, a discharge mode, and a mode that cyclically charges and discharges NiMh cells while monitoring their discharge rate to quickly get them up to their full potential. (NiMh cells don't reach their full potential until they have been through several charge/discharge cycles.) Each of the four slots can be controlled independently as well. It's a pretty nice unit. I believe Maha Powerex makes a good charger as well.
