I have measured two different coils @20 windings each.
One has "normal" insulation the other a very thick insulation.
I am somewhat puzzled by the results.
The measurements were made via resonant frequency.
Thin insulation:
650kHz with 150pF...
3 results in 0.0042 seconds.

Just musing. Wonder what would happen if you took a 3D printer, got a larger nozzle, and fed a wire through it along with the filament. You'd probably have to run it hotter to compensate for the heat of the copper wire, and it would take longer to set, but this just might be a way to automatically...
