Personally I like this idea a lot for coil wrapping especially flat coils Share your thoughts.

Coil wrapping made easy

That's pretty slick, I think this guy did a fantastic job. Once upon a time I designed a walk-thru detector with a 7-foot long TX coil. We thought about a similar approach to wind it, using a big (8-foot) CNC router with the router replaced by a wire feeder. In the end, the coil only had 8 turns, so I built a plywood table with corner pegs and wound it by hand. And in the very end, the whole effort got canned.

Seems that Detechs makes a 15 inch flat spiral Double D coil for the Minelab GPX,GP and SD series detectors. If I am not mistaken, these are PI detectors, so obviously the flat spiral is a superb type of coil for pulse machine.
The price of the 15 inch Detect is around 400 US dollars.
You could easily make such a coil for very little expense if you had the rig shown in the video.

It's actually quite feasible with a flatbed type router ...or similar setup just has to be rigid enough to keep accuracy and repeatability.
The roller idea is great. Might machine up something similar and have a shot.
If it's just to make a single coil, I wouldn't bother but for multiple coils , yeah, great idea.
Cheers
