Yes, I do think the original Mod1 leaves the power supply oscillator (connected via R1) to Arduino pin 8 which is a no-connect for this version. The above post #59 shows an implentation where the track cuts and 2 links keep that oscillator/R1 connected to the Arduino TX Oscillator output now on pin 13 (D10). I guess an unsynced power supply oscillator will run OK and probably have no overall impact but #59 keeps the implemention in line with the schematic and slight chance have reduced noise.
