Barracuda Legend Kit Problems

Because it cost me less than 10 Euro and its just a little project for a pinpointer. I have everything at home and i just need the parts.
I have already asked kt314 for the price a week ago , and i sent him a pm today. I think i will buy a board from him, i just need the partslist lol.

I have heard that he made little changes to the board , so i think the partslist is a bit different too.
Can you give it to me pls. This will speed things up.

Or i will send the gerber files to pcbway and get 10 boards for 18 Euro and sell the rest of them.

Or i will search for a surf pi pro layout which is easier to build and to etch. Is there a single side sprint layout from the surf pi? Not the longboard pls.

I obtained a REALLY NICE PCB from KT315, purchased my own parts and had a nice working unit for under $30 USD. For just a few more Dollars you can have the GeioTech Board and all parts from Silver Dog. Why bother burning your own board ? I understand it's cool to be able to say "BECAUSE I COULD" but some times a little cheating is good too. You still can say I put it together with these two hands. LOL

What is the minimum voltage for the geotech baracuda? Can i run it with a 9V battery?

The input voltage range for the Geotech Baracuda REV-A is +7V to +15V, as described in the Build Document.

The PCB layout is not designed to be replicated at home using nasty chemicals.
The options are:
1. Send off the Gerber files to a PCB house.
2. Order a PCB from silverdog.
3. Make your own single-sided layout suitable for manufacturing at home.

I have a problem with the gerber files. I want to print it for toner transfer and i have the top copper layer which looks fine for printing,
but the bottom copper layer looks like the pcb itself, red.

Ok, thanks a lot. One last question. I need a replacement for LT1054 , because it cost 5 Euro. I replaced LF412 by TL082.
And is there a sprint layout file from the geotech baracuda rev a?

You can replace the LT1054 with an ICL7660A, but be aware that the maximum input voltage for the 7660A is only 12V, whereas the LT1054 can go up to 15V.
The 7660A is well known for letting out the magic smoke if you exceed its maximum ratings.

There is no Sprint layout for the Geotech Baracuda REV-A.

Can i use my 5% resistors here too for everything else?

There is no requirement to use 0.1% tolerance resistors. Personally I always use 1% resistors, but 5% may be ok. The most critical areas are the timing components.

Whats the problem of this build? Its the only layout which is single sided and which has all numbers of the capacitors.

Next one would be the CudaCuda but i dont have an exact partslist of it and it took me an hour to make this for the Rev2.

Which errors do you mean? I have the sprint layout file which contains two boards , one with a laying 6800uf and the other one with standing.

I have thought that Rev A means Rev1 and Rev 2 means Rev B and Rev 2 is the newest.

As stated in the Geotech Baracuda REV-A thread:

"The Geotech Baracuda is based on the original Baracuda from Anchor Electronics. The design was first published by Alexismex in 2011 and (although people have reported some success) there have been a number of underlying problems with many of the builds, particularly when using a supply voltage that is too high. There are also several versions of the Baracuda schematic floating around, with each of them containing subtle differences, and many of these have discrepancies between the schematic and the layout. Following a number of Geotech members experiencing issues with the original design, it was decided to take a closer look and try to isolate the source (or sources) of these problems. All changes made are described in the attached Build Document. In fact, it is also possible for anyone with a previous Baracuda PCB to carry out cut-and-strap surgery on the board to bring it up to the same standard. I've already done it, so I know it's possible.

In other words, the Geotech Baracuda REV-A version is the latest and greatest. All the other versions contain design errors.
The decision was made to rename it "Geotech Baracuda" to distinguish it from the other "Baracuda" versions. The simplest solution is to order a PCB or a complete kit from silverdog.

LOL or just jump that and go with the Mini that is even better.

Any non motion MD is not working properly in my terrain/vulcanic area.
If someone can make single layer for geo baracudda that would be help, this is the most stable for md i build on all terain.
